Hawaii Five-O showcases new Hendrix material

In an announcement tonight for next week's episode, Hawaii Five-O will carry previously unreleased Jimi Hendrix songs. For fans and lovers of Hendrix, this marks another opportunity to enjoy the genius of the guitarist.

Hawaii Five-O normally airs on Monday nights, but a special episode is slated to air after the AFC Championship game on January 20, 2013 at 10:00 p.m. (EST). The episode will incorporate new music from the soon-to-be-released album.

Titled People, Hell, and Angels, the upcoming album includes recordings from 1968 and 1969. According to a video on the official Hendrix website, Eddie Kramer describes Hendrix's work ethic,

Jimi was in the studio constantly. His whole life, he was always in the studio. There was virtually never a moment he wasn't always in the studio. If he was not on the road, he was in the studio...During this time he was experimenting and trying all these different musicians. Sort of stretching out the boundaries and it yields some fantastic songs, which are on this album.

The album includes musicians such as Stephen Stills on bass, Buddy Miles on drums and Billy Cox; whom Hendrix served in the military with. People, Hell, and Angels will premiere twelve previously unreleased songs. This album moves beyond The Jimi Hendrix Experience material.

Some songs that can be found on the new release are: "Earth Blues", "Somewhere", Hear My Train a Comin' " and "Bleeding Heart". The album is available for pre-order with an official sales date of March 5, 2013. Until then, saunter on over to CBS after the AFC Championship this Sunday to hear the new material and enjoy some Hawaii Five-O at the same time.
