New Jersey to host UFC 159 title fight between Jon Jones and Chael Sonnen (Video)

According to a Jan. 8 report from MMA Junkie, New Jersey is set to host the UFC 159 light heavyweight title fight between Jon Jones and Chael Sonnen.

UFC 159, which features Sonnen vs Jones in the headlining slot, is slated for April 27 at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey.

"Jones and Sonnen serve as coaches on the 17th edition of The Ultimate Fighter, which debuts Jan. 22 on FX," MMA Junkie's report states. "Their fight coincides with the "TUF 17" conclusion, though it won't be part of the show's official finale event."

"UFC 159: Jones vs Sonnen" will undoubtedly be one of the biggest light heavyweight title fights in UFC history.

Jones vs Sonnen is the only fight official for the April 27 card, but more fight announcements are expected for the weeks and months ahead.

Jones, 25, is riding an eight-fight win streak, including victories over legitimate top ten contenders like Vitor Belfort, Rashad Evans, Lyoto Machida and Mauricio Rua.

As for Sonnen, he's still a top five contender despite losing two of his last four.

Sonnen went 1-1 in 2012, defeating Michael Bisping at the UFC on FOX: Evans vs Davis event, before falling to Anderson Silva at UFC 148.

The Prudential Center is no stranger to UFC events, as the venue previously hosted UFC 78, UFC 111 and UFC 128.

According to Prucenter.com, tickets for "UFC 159: Jones vs Sonnen" go on sale on Jan. 23 at 10 a.m.
