A New Jersey high school teacher was arrested in Florida last week for allegedly having sex with her 16-year-old student three times in her classroom. Algebra teacher, Jenna Garcia-Calle, 28, was arrested on Thursday, Jan. 24, by U.S. Marshalls in Florida and charged with second-degree sexual assault and fourth-degree child abuse.
According to a report from the “New York Daily News”, Jenna Garcia-Calle was having sex with her 16-year-old male student in her classroom, while classes were in session at the Plainfield High School near Newark, New Jersey, apparently locking the doors and blocking the windows.
The teacher student sexual relationship began in December and authorities were notified following the 16-year-old telling family and friends of his trysts with his algebra teacher.
Once Jenna Garcia-Calle became aware others knew of her inappropriate behavior with her student, she fled to Florida, checking into a sexual rehabilitation clinic, where U.S. Marshalls eventually picked her up after tracing text messages she allegedly sent to the 16-year-old boy demanding he destroy any evidence of the sexual encounters.
As of the last report on this case, Jenna Garcia-Calle is being held without bond and waiting extradition back to New Jersey. This high school teacher is yet another in a list of young females in authority having sex with under age students. But what are most disturbing are the comments that followed this news report in the “New York Daily News” with many, not all, of the adults basically patting the back of the 16-year-old student who had sex with his teacher.
