New Jersey Senate attempts to kill American Dream with 'millionaire's tax'

Former New Jersey Governor Jon Corzine tried to do it and it failed miserably: a tax designed to punish people for doing well, people who are already punished enough by governments across the land.

Now Senate Socialist Steve Sweeney is proposing to go to battle with NJ's new Republican governor Chris Christie on the same subject. He's also planning to hold the state hostage with this argument: they're trying to pass a budget there. Sweeney is simply upset that Christie has gone after the lovechild of the Dems in New Jersey: public schools.

The idea of imposing more taxes on people who make six or seven figures a year is an idiotic idea. Since we were children in this country, we are told to go seek out our dreams, be the best we can be and be successful doing it. More times than not, achieving those goals means you'll be making some decent (or more than decent) income.

As soon as one becomes successful in this country, Big Government steps in and say "Oh, no, you're not allowed to have all of those things. You have to share this with everyone else".

Democrats put on a facade that they're just trying to help poor people and this can't be more evident in Sweeney's proposal. The monies generated by punishing the rich and successful are not at all passed on to those in lower income brackets - they're used to pay for big government projects and to give handouts to people who don't want to work or contribute to society.

Christie isn't going to back down and the Democrats and Socialists in the Garden State will look even more foolish. They will be the ones who will paint Christie as a "defender of the rich" but they will be the ones really holding up the budget process. In the end, let's hope Christie defends the American Dream and doesn't let these people 'spread the wealth' under the guise of helping the poor.

You are an arrogant elistist twit. I pray for you that you never become one of the "poor people" Christie is HURTING with his budget cuts. The senior prescription cut is the worst. I hope to God you never get hurt and can't work; or get old and infirm and sick, or maybe if you do somebody like you will kick you too to the curb as "not willing to work." Jerk.

Elitist? You're the elitists. People like you always say "The poor need help" but when you tax the rich, you spend it on stadiums and fancy cars for City Councils to drive around in and such. Corzine was a joke and McGreevey used taxpayer money to hit on Israeli men. Liberals like you hold your state hostage with your Mafioso public school unions (see the film "The Cartel"). His budget cuts are the right thing for NJ and I hope he cuts more.

Sweeney is a douche, his daddy bought him the election to begin with and he now wants to tax the rich? He's Norcross's bitch and is an uneducated bully who never carried his own (massive) weight. He should go and take more little dinners with his "assistant."

The only way you can get people to read your Christie ass kissing is by putting it on Craigslist? FAIL.
