Founded in December 1998 by the National Hockey League and the National Hockey League Players’ Association, Hockey Fights Cancer is an initiative to raise money and awareness for hockey’s most important fight. Since coming into play, Hockey Fights Cancer has raised over $12-million.
The Devils will kick off the evening with Fanfest at 5pm at Championship Plaza and cash donations will be accepted upon entering the building before the 7pm start time.
In an email sent to their season ticket holders, the New Jersey Devils Fan Experience Team stated the following:
This Thursday, October 24, when your Devils take on the Vancouver Canucks, it will be Hockey Fights Cancer Night at Prudential Center. Unfortunately, cancer is so prevalent that most of us know someone, whether it be family, friend or coworker, who has been affected by this disease in some way.
Much like we have done in previous seasons, the Devils Dancers and volunteers will be stationed at the entrances to the arena taking donations. These donations will be spread amongst the Devils various hospital partners in an effort to fight against this disease.
As a Devils family, we would like to make an impact in a number of ways:
First, we ask you to do what you can to donate something to the cause upon your entrance to the arena; any amount is appreciated
Second, for any Premium, Full or Half Season Ticket Holders who donates $10 or more at the door, we will be providing you with a voucher for two free tickets to your choice of one of the following two games:
October 29 vs. Tampa Bay
November 25 vs. Winnipeg
With the voucher for two complementary tickets for either of the games above, we hope you will donate them to a family you know that has been affected by cancer in some way. We all have a chance to give something positive to those who have gone through so much, and provide them with a fun night at a game where they can create special memories. Please join us in our efforts.
Your Fan Experience Team
Mystery Pucks will also be available for purchase on the main concourse on Thursday night. All profits will benefit Hockey Fights Cancer. For tickets check out the New Jersey Devils website.
