From naming Santa’s reindeer to recalling the best Christmas gift they ever received, the players certainly kept us entertained. Some even a little too entertained.
When it came to presents, most of the answeres were what you would expect from hockey players; a net for street hockey, a new pair of goalie pads, a hockey stick. Adam Henrique though may have been the easiest kid to shop for.
While Cam Janssen- who by the way, will nail it when it comes to Santa’s reindeer later on- was wishing for a ski cabin that he never got, Henrique recalled a nail clipper set, complete with a little pair of scissors as the best Christmas present he received.
Not only does Henrique have the best bone structure on the team, he also adds the most well-manicured cuticles to his accomplishments.
Henrique also stole the show when he revealed his favorite Christmas carol as silent night. Loughlin wasn’t letting the guys off easy, so when he asked the 23-year old to sing a verse, Henrique pulled off what can only be described as his best Elvis Presley impersonation.
Martin Brodeur stayed safe with Let it Snow while Danius Zubrus went with John Lennon’s Happy Xmas (War is Over). Neither player was willing to sing, but Brodeur eventually caved and reminded us all that the future Hall of Famer will not be a special guest on American Idol any time soon.
Now, I have to admit, off the top of my head I don’t think I could recall all of Santa’s reindeer but I could probably do a better job than some of the attempts by the Devils.
Brodeur played it safe again by not even trying and if Cam Janssen had thought it out, he would have done the same. Fortunately for us, the rugged winger gave his best shot and while we almost hope he was kidding, the “boom” he threw in at the end leads us to believe he was not only serious, but extremely confident.
Santa’s reindeer according to Cam Janssen: Randolph (so close), Blatzen (almost), Connor (every group of friends needs a good Irishman), Lasher (by L’oreal?), Dancer (yes!) and Mixen (way to close it out).
And we thought Jaromir Jagr was going to provide us with the Devils’ quote of the year.
Honorable mention for best response to naming Santa’s helpers: Michael Ryder, who actually named most of them.
