The start of the NHL season is just two days away and the players, fans and execs are ready to put the lockout far behind. The Devils open the season on the road against the New York Islanders Saturday night. It's the first of four meetings between the divisional rivals and each team will be looking for the win to help build some early season momentum. The lockout shortened 48-game schedule means there is little room or time for error.
The Devils are hoping that fans will quickly come back. In an email sent to fans Saturday the team thanked them for their patience, loyalty and support.
"Thank you so much for your patience," the message stated. "We are extremely pleased there is now a Collective Bargaining Agreement that brings Devils hockey back to the Rock. This is welcome news for all of us - fans, players, partners, local businesses, staff and owners – and especially our season ticket holders who helped make the Prudential Center the loudest, most energized arena in the NHL during the Devils run to the Stanley Cup Final last season."
The email continued: "Happily, now it’s time to Drop the Puck!"
The message encouraged fans to "be on the lookout for future communication in the coming days, with all of the details you will need pertaining to the season, your seats, game schedule, ticket logistics and more."
It concluded: "We sincerely appreciate your loyalty and support for the Devils. Thanks again for being a part of the best fan base in the NHL. Let’s Go Devils!"
