New Jamaican restaurant for Troy

Another new restaurant is in the works in Troy, with a projected March opening date.

Vincent Douglas received city approval to create a Jamaican restaurant in a commercial space at 3301 6th Avenue, opposite the Olde Judge Mansion bed and breakfast.

Douglas, a resident of Albany, includes work as a chef at Kenneth's Tastebud in Albany on his resume. He has not yet announced the name of his new restaurant

Douglas purchased the corner property on 6th and Glen avenues and will rehab and rent out two apartments there as well as operate the restaurant. An off-street parking variance granted to the property back in 2009 remains in effect.

This will not be the city's only Jamaican restaurant. Caribbean First Choice operates downtown at 451 Fulton Street, and Noula Caribbean Restaurant at 2801 6th Avenue.
