The new "Iron Man 3" trailer arrived on Tuesday, as the next movie in the Robert Downey, Jr.-starring movie series about Marvel Comics' technology-based super-hero closes in on its release.
Tony Stark (Iron Man) isn't having any better luck sleeping than he was when we saw the first official trailer, back in October.
In fact, a lot of the new trailer rehashes what we saw back then. Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow) is still important to Stark, as he says "Things are different now. I have to protect the one thing I can't live without: That's you," he says, pointing at Potts.
This movie's villain of choice is The Mandarin (Ben Kingsley). As in the earlier trailer, we see the Mandarin’s helicopters launch missiles at Stark’s seaside home, which crumbles and explodes. We also see scenes of Iron Man saving people falling from an airplane, Tony Stark lying in a hospital room, surrounded by doctors, and Pepper Potts held in some type of metal restraints.
We also see Gwyneth Paltrow apparently in bra and -- not sure what else.
Near the end of the 2:45 trailer, we hear the Mandarin say to Stark, "I'm gonna offer a choice. Do you want an empty life, or a meaningful death?"
We also get to see Stark say "There's my boys," as a bunch of Iron Man suits -- presumably robotic -- come to save the day (both Stark and Rhodes are suit-less).
If this trailer is anything like the full film, this could be the best Iron Man film, ever.
"Iron Man 3" is directed by Shane Black, and stars Robert Downey Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, Guy Pearce, Rebecca Hall, Stephanie Szostak, James Badge Dale, Jon Favreau and Ben Kingsley. The film will hit U.K. theaters on April 26, 2013, and U.S. theaters on May 3, 2013.
