New iPad,apps worth downloading now includes free Public Radio player (Photos)

According to a Feb. 12 report in All App News, Public Radio today released an updated version of its app for iPad, iPhone or iPod touch. That's right! After more than two years of no updates, PRX (Public Radio Exchange) has finally updated its Public Radio Player. Actually, it's more than an update, it's a complete refresh!

The first thing they did was throw out the old tabbed interface and replace it with the sleek sidebar navigation system used by many of today's popular apps. Now there's also an option to download for offline listening plus, the ability to see Twitter feeds and news headlines.

All this means that you get an even better experience when you stream audio from more than 500 public radio stations and programs. You can now listen to news, music, podcasts and stories from anywhere in the country, on demand and free. On line or off line. This app is free for today.

Also new to the App Store today, according to App Store announcements, is Dungeon Tapper, a simple game with stunning graphics. Your aim here is to defend the castle from enemies and their monster allies. You can earn enchantment gemstones, pick up items dropped by enemies, choose your own weapons and more. This app is free for today.

Fresh to the App Store today also is Foods to Never Eat. This nutrition game is both fun and educational. Learn which foods people think are healthy but which really create abdominal fat and prevent weight loss. You'll be surprised at the answers. For example: Did you know that a cup of coffee is healthier than a glass of orange juice? You can share this nutrition info with your friends and even compete against them to see who is most nutrition wise. Free for today.
