Diagon Alley is rapidly taking shape at Universal Studios Florida, and the park continued its teasing today by releasing several photos depicting the inside of its new Gringotts ride.
Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts promises to be Diagon Alley's signature attraction, but the park has been mum on specifics, just as it kept Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey under wraps during the Hogsmeade construction. Now the photos offer some hints of what the ride might be like. Check out the slideshow to see them for yourself.
When I viewed the photos myself, several things stood out to me that have me some hints of what I can possibly expect:
- The cars look remarkably like those used for Revenge of the Mummy, but with tiered seating. Could this mean a roller coaster/3-D dark ride hyrid that goes along a coaster track and passes animatronic scenes but also stops at certain points for 3-D parts?
- The ride will be in 3-D, which presumably means wearing glasses. That means it can't be too physically vicious, since they'll have to stay on your face. That doesn't mean it won't be intense, as Transformers amply proves.
- The ride will feature the Gringotts dragon, so there's a good chance it will feature fire. If you've ridden Revenge of the Mummy, you know how much potential that has. Granted, Transformers doesn't feature any real fire, but with a dragon there's at least a possibility.
Right now, it's all speculation, but stay tuned for opening date information. I'll report on that as soon as it's released. In the meantime, jump to this article to see the latest video about Gringotts.
