Ward off the chill with white hot Indie DVDs for February 14th, 2012. Most of these new releases can be rented locally in Pittsburgh, however some are a little more exclusive and may take a little more purpose than just traveling to the Video store or Kiosk. Anyway you want do it though will be fine with all these titles being worth the effort.

"The Debt (2007)"- The original Israeli film that was the impetus for last year's American star-studded remake. A group of young Mossad agents are sent in the 1960s to find and bring to trial a Nazi war criminal, though unfortunately for them they come up short. Setting in motion another attempt thirty years later. With Gila Almagor, one of that country's most respected veteran actresses. Available to rent exclusively at local Family Video stores.
"The Devil's Rock"- New Zealand soldiers, during the eve of D-Day, stumble upon a German battalion hiding in a tunneled Blockhouse. There they encounter a SS Colonel trying to summon a hellish demon to win the war in a black magic ritual. Tense chills from a low-budgeted Kiwi mash-up that combines a war picture with the supernatural. Another DVD rental that is only available at Family Video.
"The Hedgehog"- A "wise beyond her years" eleven-year old decides to kill herself on her 12th birthday. But, that appointment with death will have to wait after she makes friends with a strict caretaker and a mysterious recluse in her apartment building. This Foreign award winner captures the magic of childhood and old age alike. Now available to own only on Import DVD with English subtitles.
"Mozart's Sister"- Re-imagining about Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart's older sibling, who in factual accounts was said to be as accomplished a musician as her brother. A vivid dramatic composition involving a family of artists torn apart by their prodigious talent. Available everywhere to rent or buy.
"Prairie Love"- A lonesome stranger rescues a rural man from a frosty demise. Upon learning that the man is on his way to visit his jailed pen-pal girlfriend, the stranger decides to adopt the man's identity and visit the woman himself. Set in the icy North Dakota winter, Director Dusty Bias's offbeat Dramedy is a story that explores some of the peculiar forms that human love can take. "The Rum Diary"- Superstar Johnny Depp, who not only produces but acts in a fictional Comedy based on a young Hunter S. Thompson's exploits & his very first gonzo manuscript. Depp plays an expat American newspaperman facing his fears while loathing away the time in Puero Rico with drinks, drugs & a beautiful woman (Amber Heard). "Take Shelter"- A small-town family man from Ohio (Michael Shannon) is determined to protect his wife (Jessica Chastain) and deaf daughter from an impending apocalypse. Fueled by disturbing premonitions of terrible storms, Curtis sets out to prepare for the future by building an impenetrable underground storm shelter in the safety of his own backyard.
