On Monday, December 30 Empire posted several new images from the upcoming action film "Captain America: The Winter Soldier," which will be arriving in theaters in April. The Marvel superhero sequel film will take place after the events of "The Avengers," as Steve Rogers find himself still unable to adjust to modern life.
The new images reveal a new suit for Rogers (Chris Evans) which is almost completely dark blue with the silver stars. There are several images of Captain America standing with his shield and looking concerned. The film will include Rogers teaming up with Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) to take on a threat in Washington D.C. and the images show Agent Romanoff running with a gun in her hand.
The most spoiler filled photo is of the Captain's beat friend Bucky (Sebastian Stan), who has turned into the title character of The Winter Soldier. His hair in longer and his face is mostly covered, but the image shows Bucky holding Captain America's shield and the trailer has revealed that Bucky is able to stop the shield.
The film also includes S.H.I.E.L.D. Director Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) who helps convince Rogers that the threat is a top priority. He is shown having a conversation with Alexander Pierce (Robert Redford). The film will also have The Falcon (Anthony Mackie) who helps Rogers in the field but isn't really his friend.
The film, directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, will be released on April 4, 2014 in 2D and 3D theaters. Cobie Smulders, Emily Van Camp, and Frank Grillo will also star. Check out the official Facebook page for more information.
