NBC-12 News reported on March 20 that Richmond, Virginia has a new ice cream. Jobs are available at the new distribution center on Laburnum Avenue. How sweet it is.
Blue Bell, based in Texas, has been making ice cream for 106 years, and now the famous ice cream is available for Richmond residents.
Blue Bell says its the third best selling ice cream brand in the country, even though it's only in 20 states, mostly in the South.
Richmond Branch Manger Mark Fancer said there are 18 flavors including red velvet cake plus special flavors for different regions and seasons.
Check out the long list of flavors on Blue Bell's website.
Blue Bell says their ice cream is a favorite of President George W. Bush, and he served it to some dignitaries. They say three astronauts have taken it up into space. And now they're hoping Richmonders will like it. This is their first launch into Virginia with distribution sites in Richmond and Hampton.
A person who has tried Blue Bell ice cream says:
"Blue Bell is a good ice cream, and they didn't reduce the volume of their containers when everyone else did. You get quality and quantity."
You will be able to buy Blue Bell in Kroger, Wal-Mart, Walgreens, and Farm Fresh, and in some restaurants: Carraba's, Outback Steakhouse, and the new Chuy's coming to West Broad Village.
Blue Bell expects to hire 15 to 20 people including driver salesmen, merchandisers, and office staff. There's also a transfer station in Suffolk, which will hire another 8 to 10 people.
