Sprint announced they will offer the new HTC One E8 beginning August 29. The device is available in Polar White and Misty Gray with silver accents. HTC has been making some nice phones in the HTC One lineup. With changes including a slimmer profile, curved body, and wraparound edges, the HTC One E8 may be an enticing purchasing for those on the Sprint network.
The HTC One E8 will cost consumers $100 with a new two-year agreement or $500 when purchased without the contract. Sprint also offers Sprint Easy Pay for well-qualified buyers. This allows you to receive the new device for $0 down (plus tax) and 24 monthly payments of $20.84.
While the HTC One E8 seems similar to the HTC One M8 found on other carries like Verizon, the E8 is designed around a plastic body and some slightly decreased camera specks compared to the M8. The device does have the same 5-inch screen, full HD display, and 2600 mAh lithium-ion battery as the M8.
The HTC One E8 runs Android 4.4.2, KitKat on a 2.3 GHz quad-core processor. The app experience and functionality of the phone should be as quick and responsive as the HTC One M8. The 13-megapixel rear-facing camera should be acceptable for those looking to take basic pictures on the go.
One of the impressive features on the HTC One M8 were the dual front-facing speakers. The sound quality was very good and delivered clear vocals and solid bass. It will be interesting to see if the plastic casing impacts the quality of those front-facing speakers on the HTC One E8. The quality of sound will hopefully remain and not disappoint those who are familiar with HTC BoomSound.
If you are looking for quick access to your phone, you can do so with one swipe using Motion Launch. This feature also allows you to answer a call without unlocking the device. You can simply lift your phone to answer. The HTC One E8 also allows WiFi calling over existing home, office, and public WiFi networks.
If you live in one of the 27 areas where Sprint Spark is available, the HTC One E8 will provide you with a nice LTE wireless experience that currently peaks at 50-60 Mbps. This service on this device will help with video, gaming, and bandwidth experienced on the HTC One E8.
If you are looking for a new phone and are a part of the Sprint network or are looking to take advantage of some of the data deals Sprint is offering, stop by your local Sprint store and see the HTC One E8 for yourself. Take time to use the device in the store. Take some pictures, play some music, browse the web on the E8. Compare the E8 to the M8 that is also offered in Sprint stores. The differences may be slight enough to make the E8 a better deal at a $100 lower cost with a new two-year agreement.
