"How I Met Your Mother" will return to Channel 5 in Tempe tonight. On Sunday, Jan. 13, Spoiler TV shared new cast photos released for the series. CBS is looking to pick up this series for a ninth season soon. Nina Tassler said the following about the pending renewal, according to Collider:
"Well, I will be very happy to report, in a very few days, that things will be resolved. We’re very confident and excited that things will all work out, and almost everything is completed."
However, season nine is not the only thing being considered by CBS. When asked if the series had a life beyond season nine and the big mother reveal that has been waited on since the series began, Tassler had the following to say about a future of the series beyond season nine, according to Hypable:
"It’s funny, we talked the other day [about], ‘[Will] people watch the show beyond knowing the mother?’ I bet there are a lot of people that would continue to watch after that. But right now, it’d be the end as designed by [co-creators] Carter [Bays] and Craig [Thomas], and I wouldn’t want to even attempt to undermine what their creative goal was."
The series has been a hit for CBS, but it was always meant to end once the mother was revealed. Barney and Robin are set to marry, but is she the mother? Fans are buzzing about this series on social media. One fan said the following on Twitter recently:
