After having gotten so many compliments on the beautiful images from last year’s trip to Tierra Atacama in northern Chile, it seemed only fitting to share the latest in the string of Tierra resorts and spas. They have recently opened Tierra Patagonia in the Torres del Paine region of southern Chile.
Not quite to the tip of South America, this newest hotel overlooks Lake Sarmiento, not far from the beautiful mountains of Torres del Paine National Park. Built into the landscape, this resort resembles a low wave stopped in motion, blending beautifully into the landscape.
In true Tierra Hotel fashion, the whole management team believes in ecological sustainability and is quite sensitive to this fragile environment. Natural building materials create a warm, welcoming environment and their chef works his magic featuring locally harvested foods.
With thousands of acres of national park land so close by, there is no lack of opportunities for hiking, horseback riding and scenic tours of glaciers, lagoons, lakes, waterfalls and wildlife.
Hopefully this year, I’ll be returning to Chile and will be able to give you a first-hand account of Tierra Patagonia and this magic region. In the meantime, feast your eyes on this beautifully done video.
