Walt Disney World visitors looking for snack food alternatives can join fans of The Little Mermaid at a newly opened quick service stand in the Magic Kingdom's new Fantasyland expansion. Intricately themed and detailed, Prince Eric's Village Market joins the omnimover dark ride Under the Sea ~ Journey of the Little Mermaid attraction in the back of the park, across from the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train construction site.
The new stand appears, as its name implies, to be a simple canvas-covered location fronting a weathered Mediterranean building on the coast. Its menu features no hotdogs or common quick cuisine, offering instead "...whole and cut fruits, hummus and chips, Greek yogurt and fresh veggies and dip." Typical sodas have been swapped for lemonade, tea, bottled juices and water. The new market adds to the already health-conscious options that have opened as part of the Fantasyland expansion.
Nearby Gaston's Tavern, touted as perhaps the "manliest of manly places," offers soy milk, mixed vegetables and caramel-accompanied apples in addition to meaty pork shanks. Unique to the establishment is LeFou's Brew, a popular non-alcoholic drink. Outside of Fantasyland guests can find healthy options at places like The Lunching Pad in Tomorrowland, or the Liberty Square Market.
