Today Acting-Auditions.org is reporting that HBO is now in production on the new series pilot 'Westworld' based on the 1973 science fiction western-thriller feature film that starred Yul Brynner and James Brolin. The casting team for this project has sent out a casting call seeking men and women of all sizes and shapes to work as fully paid background extras in the Moab, Utah area. The scenes that are shot will be portraying an 1880's era, which in the storyline is part of a futuristic amusement park called Westworld.
Academy Award nominee Jonathan Nolan will direct the 'Westworld' pilot episode from a script that he wrote with Writers Guild of America WGA Award nominee Lisa Joy. Nolan and Joy are husband and wife, and will also executive produce along with Primetime Emmy Award winner Bryan Burk, two-time Primetime Emmy Award winner JJ Abrams, and three-time Primetime Emmy Award winner Jerry Weintraub.
According to Variety, this rendition of 'Westworld' is "a dark odyssey about the dawn of artificial consciousness and the future of sin." Academy Award winner Anthony Hopkins is playing the role of Dr. Robert Ford, the brilliant creative director of Westworld. Three-time Screen Actors Guild Awards nominee James Marsden plays Teddy Flood, a newly-arrived gunslinger in pursuit of a local beauty. Two-time Golden Globe Award nominee Evan Rachel Wood is Dolores Abernathy, a Western girl who discovers her entire life is an elaborately constructed lie. Other cast members include Rodrigo Santoro, Thandie Newton, and Ed Harris.
The scenes being shot in Utah will take place in mid-September, 2014. Shooting is also taking place in Los Angeles at the Warner Brothers Studios. Details about the casting call for extras can be found on the following casting post:
