On Thursday, August 14, 2014 artist and author Jessica Fligg was the special guest at Storytime at the Gordon-Nash Library in New Hampton, NH. She read her book "Susie's Painting Adventure" to a group of young readers and then helped them with a special art activity .
"Susie's Painting Adventure" is a colorful story about a little girl names Susie who loves to paint and her faithful dog Rufus. In the story Susie and Rufus teach how to mix colors and which colors to mix together t make different colors. After the story Jessica help the children recreate one of Susie’s masterpieces from the story.
In addition to being the guest readers at Storytime, Ms. Fligg is also the featured artist this month in the Nash-Gallery, located on the lower level of the Gordon-Nash Library. Jessica Fligg is an artist with an exceptional talent for creating breathtaking landscapes in watercolors and oils. Her truly awe inspiring artwork makes you feel like you have stepped into the lush green mountains of New Hampshire, or the rocky Maine coastline. You can almost smell the pine needles in the air or the salty mist from the sea on your face. This show is well worth the visit.
Ms. Fligg is a New Hampshire native and is inspired by her surroundings. She can be found hiking, camping, and backpacking through all four New England seasons. It's not uncommon to find her sitting along a trail or scenic vista working on a painting.
As a young child Jessica’s parents gave her and her great grandmother sketch books. They began drawing and exchanging what they had worked on once a week. This left deep artistic roots in Jessica and after high school she continued her art studies at the New Hampshire Institute of Art in Manchester, NH. During this time she achieved the Deans List all three semesters. Here she was introduced to both oils and watercolors.
Her paintings have been accepted into galleries and shows throughout New Hampshire. Including;
In addition to her involvement with galleries Jessica attends many summer and fall art shows and art in the park events. To see where she will be exhibiting next visit her website: www.Jessica-Fligg-Artist.com.
