New ‘GTA 5’ PS4, PC, and Xbox One release date leaked, sales expectations given

Rockstar Games along with publisher Take-Two have reconfirmed that Grand Theft Auto 5 will release for PS4, Xbox One, and PC sometime during the 2014 fall season. According to a report by The Epoch Times from Aug. 12, GTA 5 for PS4, Xbox One, and PC may see release sometime during the month of Nov. and just before Black Friday, if online retailers are to be believed. In addition to a potential release date, an industry analyst has shared his first month sale expectations for GTA 5 when it releases for PS4, PC, and Xbox One later this year.

According to Arvind Bhatia, analyst at Sterne Agee, he expects that Rockstar and Take-Two will have strong success with the release of GTA 5 on PS4, PC, and Xbox One this holiday. During its first month of availability, Bhatia believes that Grand Theft Auto V could sell up to 2 million units and generate around $100 million in revenue during the opening month. Though Bhatia expects big things from GTA 5 for current-gen consoles, a sales figure of 2 million certainly seems feasible.

When Rockstar Games released Grand Theft Auto 5 for PS3 and Xbox 360 in Sept. of 2013, people expected great things from the title and the game certainly delivered on that front. Having generated more than $1 billion in just three days of availability, GTA 5 was crowned as one of the fastest selling games of all-time. To date, GTA 5 has sold more than 30 million copies worldwide on PS3 and Xbox 360.

Earlier in the month, Take-Two once again confirmed that GTA 5 is on track for a fall 2014 release; however, the company did not disclose an exact release date. With the month of Aug. quickly coming to a conclusion and Sept. looming on the horizon, it doesn’t seem likely that a Sept. release will occur for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC version. Nevertheless, Amazon Germany has listed a possible release date for GTA 5 having recently listed Nov. 14 as the title's release. Meanwhile, retailer GameSeek has the game listed for Nov. 7. The safe bet seems to be Nov. at this point.

A Nov. release date would be position GTA 5 as a prime holiday title and give it great exposure just before Black Friday – if a Nov. release date is made official.
