You first came to know him as a warrior betrayed by Ares, the ancient god of war. You followed his tale of revenge as he destroyed everybody and everything that dared cross him. In his quests of vengeance, many tend to forget just how tragic and sad Kratos's tale truly is. Now, a trailer unveiled earlier today over at the Playstation blog aims to bring that tragedy to light as it reveals a softer, more human side of Kratos. Now you will learn what the man went through as he was forced to deal with the pain of having just lost everybody and everything that he loved.
The trailer plucks at the heartstrings of the viewers. The music, which is a, "special arrangement of Ellie Goulding's Hanging On," amplifies the effect as the little girl fades away in her father's hands. The trailer, according to Sony, is, "the biggest production we’ve ever undertaken for a God of War commercial or trailer — or for any PS3 game for that matter.”
In addition to the new trailer, Sony has announced that a special one minute version will be played during Sunday's Superbowl. There are two new screens to feast your eyes upon, and even a 30 minute walkthrough of the beginning of the game. With multiplayer, a tragic tale, a somewhat depressing trailer, and a move away from so many QTEs, or Quick Time Events, that were featured so heavily in previous games, Sony appears to be taking leaps into making Ascension the best God of War game yet. In addition, those who buy Ascension will be given exclusive access to Naughty Dog's upcoming game, The Last of Us. You can check the "From Ashes" trailer on the official announcement.
