The Mindy Project” loves bringing on guest stars, and this time they’re snatching a star from the “New Girl” cast. On Monday, February 3, TV Line broke the news that funny guy Max Greenfield will appear on “The Mindy Project.”

According to the source, Greenfield will not be playing Schmidt (how cool will that have been?) and very little is known about his role. The special episode will air later on this season. “The Mindy Project” is on its second season, currently taking a winter break and scheduled to return on Tuesday, April 1.

This isn’t the first time a famous face guest stars on “The Mindy Project,” Vanessa Bayer (“Saturday Night Live”) starred as a love interest for Danny. Timothy Olyphant from “Justified” and Josh Peck from “Drake and Josh” have also appeared.

More recently, Glenn Howerton starred in the show, and of course, the famous James Franco episode had a lot of buzz. Franco had a two-episode stint as Dr. Paul Leotard.
