'New Girl' season 4 spoilers: 'Once Upon a Time' alum joins the cast

On August 29 Entertainment Weekly reported that actor Julian Morris will have a recurring role on the upcoming fourth season of the popular FOX series "New Girl," and he will cause problems for Jess. Morris most recently portrayed the role of Prince Phillip on the ABC drama "Once Upon a Time," where he appeared in the Enchanted Forest. Morris is expected to appear in multiple episodes of the new season, which is scheduled to debut next month.

Jessica Day (Zooey Deschanel) will be busy in her new role as vice principal, so someone will have to take her place as a teacher. Morris will play the role of Ryan, a handsome teacher who takes over her class. He will be a confident man that intimidates Jess and may serve as a love interest in later episodes. Jess will begin to fall for the guy even though she is technically his new boss.

The episodes with Morris are expected to air in October, and he will likely appear in at least two episodes which may or may not air back to back in order to further his character's interaction with Jess. It will be interesting to see how this new relationship affects her interactions with Nick Miller and the other loft roommates. The pair are currently not together although the new season will explore them both dating other people and dealing with feelings of jealousy.

On August 29 TVLine posted that the recurring role will have the show explore Jess trying to seduce another man and her struggle to keep her work life and her personal life separate. The series will return on September 16 at 9 p.m. on FOX and have the standard twenty-two episode season. Morris has also recently appeared on shows like "Pretty Little Liars" and "24," in addition to landing a role in the upcoming Amazon pilot "Hand of God."

The writers on the show are trying to bring back more comedic and light hearted moments for season four. The relationship between Nick and Jess won't be the main focus of the season. Jess will spend more time at her school in her new role as vice principal, while the other roommates get more responsibilities at their jobs. More guest stars for season four are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
