Jess and Nick are finally going to be taking a big step in "New Girl" season 2—besides their first kiss—and FOX released promotional photos on Monday, March 18 from that episode, "First Date."
Yes, Nick (Jake Johnson) and Jess (Zooey Deschanel) are going on a first date in the "New Girl" episode airing on a special night, April 4 at 9 p.m., but there will of course be some bumps along the way, as the photos, which you can check out in the slideshow at the top of this article preview. For example, while on their date, they're going to run into Jess' ex, Russell (guest star Dermot Mulroney returns), and his date, Brandy (played by Chelsey Crisp), at the restaurant at their respective tables and outside by the valet. Plus, they're going to be trying to define their relationship as if things weren't tough enough.
As for the other roommates, there's going to be an issue with the loft phone charger (will that argument go anything like the one for the parking spot?). Schmidt (Max Greenfield) and Winston (Lamorne Morris) may also be helping Nick get dressed for the date, but they're also going to be trying to sabotage it when they realize there could be "a full-on Jess/Nick romance." In the end, however, Nick is looking pretty good. But how will that first date go with their history and what has to be an awkward moment with her ex in the same place?
