A new report has come out today, Feb. 12, 2013, that according to a company executive, Warner Bros. Interactive is preparing the next game in the incredibly popular “Arkham” series, which began with “Batman: Arkham Asylum”, and continued with “Batman: Arkham City”. John Martin, chief financial officer and chief administrative officer at Warner Bros. mentioned that the game would be released this year during an investor call.
[W]e also have a strong games release this year, which will include the next release in the Batman Arkham franchise. So all in all, we expect Warners to post another very strong year in 2013. And with a little luck, the year should be as good or maybe even a little bit better than 2012.
Warner Bros. registered a lot of domain names apparently connected to the series last month, including “arkhamuniverse.com”, “batmanarkahmuniverse.com”, and “batmanarkhamknight.com”. This opens up a lot of speculation about the series, especially because it was reported in July of last year that the next “Batman” game from Rocksteady Studios would be set during the silver age.
So will the next game be set in a modern setting? Will we see “Batman: Arkham Universe”, or “Batman: Arkham Knight” on shelves later this year? Whichever it is, the previous games have been such massive hits for Warner Bros., there’s no reason the think the next won’t be the same.
