Imagine your 52 year old mother laying in a hospital bed, fighting for her life, when just a week ago she was perfectly healthy despite some mild flu symptoms. You ask yourself "why" and "why now?". Your mother has worked hard all of her life, has always had insurance, but was recently laid off of her job at a mortgage company and is no longer insured, leaving no way to pay for the new heart that she desperately needs.

This women, mother of 3, grandmother of 1, is Maureen Waters. The mother of Jordan Pundik, vocalist for New Found Glory.

Maureen was rushed to Broward General Medical Center CVICU, in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida,  the day after Thanksgiving with chest pain. Doctors have confirmed that she is suffering a sever infection that is weakening her heart at an alarming rate. At this time her heart is functioning at 10% of it's capacity. 10%! At this time she should be at Jackson Memorial undergoing a heart transplant, but due to the loss of her job and insurance her family cannot seal the deal on her admittance. Her opportunity is running out for the new heart that awaits her.

Now imagine having to work harder than you ever had while your mother is lying in a hospital bed fighting for her life. Would you want to miss out on those moments? Would you want anyone to miss out on those moments? New Found Glory will be putting on a benefit show in Miami this weekend during Art Basel at The American Legion Building. In the meantime they are raising money for Maureen's transplant through the web. They have raised just over $16,000 in just over 24 hours. That in itself is amazing. Every dollar donated will help save someone's mother, grandmother, and friend's life.

We all know that this is not nearly enough to cover a heart transplant. If you can donate please visit Help Mend a Heart, where you can donate via Paypal, get updates, and send your prayers, love, and words of encouragement to Maureen and her family. Positive thinking creates positive action and positive action creates positive thinking. If you can only donate one dollar, hey, it's one more dollar and every cent matters when we are talking life or death.

If you cannot donate at this time, please take a moment to spread the word through online social websites. Post to your Facebook, Twitter, My Space, online forums, and anywhere you think will make any bit of difference.

There is no good time to lose a parent. This reporter knows that losing a mother during the holiday season can be a burden that stays with you forever. I'm asking you, begging you to reach out and make miracles for someone you do not know, you've never met, but would be eternally grateful for your help. Please, act now and do something before it is too late.

I feel for you. My brother is in the same situation. Health insurance, but it won't cover ANY of the costs associated with a transplant. In Oct. of '09 he was told he had 1 year. I hope you can find help for your mother just as we hope and pray to find help for my brother.
