New Forney businesses opening in January: Kroger and Schlotzsky's

A number of new businesses have opened in Forney in the last few months, including Oscar Delta Texas Kitchen and Cowboy Chicken, as well as the Galaxy Sports Bar. By the end of January 2014 two more business will be open to the public, and both have Forney residents excited. The Kroger Marketplace and Schlotzsky's will open towards the end of January.

The Kroger Marketplace opening has been much anticipated by local residents, and the wait is nearly over. On January 24, at 8 am, the store will officially be opened. At 10 am the 124,000 square foot store will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony.

Kroger has held a number of job fairs and has hired 300 new employees for it's Forney location. The Kroger Fuel Center is currently unmanned but open.

Schlotzsky's has teamed up with Cinnabon and will be selling the delicious cinnamon rolls in addition to their regular menu of sandwiches, soups, and pizzas. A Schlotzsky's rep told the Forney News Examiner that they are planning an opening date of January 30. The restaurant is located near the Cowboy Chicken in the Schafer Plaza at the NW corner of FM 548 and Highway 80.

Construction is taking place in the interior of the restaurant and in the meantime Schlotzsky's is accepting applications for employment for the Forney location. You can pick up a job application on the outside window at the Forney Schlotzsky's and then email it to lotzbetter47@gmail.com.
