Having just signed a deal with Relapse Records, Georgia's Father Befouled will be releasing a new full-length album, titled Morbid Destitution of Covenant, on the 14th of September.
Some comments from the band:
Recorded May 23rd – May30th, 2010, this is the first album recorded as a fully functioning unit. We are also proud to announce the fulltime involvement of drummer Wayne Sarantopoulus [Decrepitaph]. Without his inclusion and input, this record would never have happened following the death of our original drummer, Antichristus
Set for a mid-summer release, “Morbid Destitution of Covenant” is a venomous excursion into the depths of the ethereal: serpentine riffing, discordant and eerie melodies, thunderous, abysmal vocals, and a deafening drum roar. We feel we have crafted the ultimate unholy sum of our parts. There is no comparison to the Father Befouled of the past; with “Morbid Destitution of Covenant” we have found Father Befouled. The husk has been shed and a new being shall stand arisen. However, there shall be no speak of a sound changed, yet purely the cancer has metastasized into a hewn, black nexus of our own oblivion.
This looks to be good, and if the band can top their sickeningly beautiful debut, 2008's Obscurus Nex Cultus, then this is certain to be a step forward for death metal in the new millenium.
The new album is currently available for purchase at Father Befouled's iTunes store, along with the band's other major releases. Pre-order the CD edition of Morbid Destitution of Covenant from Relapse by clicking here. A vinyl edition will appear sometime this fall through Blood Harvest records.
A preview song, titled "Sacrilegious Defilement of Deranged Salvation," can be heard in full at the band's MySpace page. Fans of Incantation, Profanatica, Havohej, and other blasphemous death / black metal are obliged to check it out!
Father Befouled recently put out a limited 7" record on Nuclear War Now! Productions titled Rotting Godless Throne. Click here to pick up a copy while they last.
Death metallers from Los Angeles will have to wait until the band embarks on a tour to see them perform, but if you happen to be in the Houston area, catch Father Befouled at the Sacrifice of the Nazarene Child Festival in October.
