Ever since the new section of Fantasyland was announced by Walt Disney World, fans have been waiting for it to have an official opening date. Finally it was announced over on the Disney Parks blog that the majority of new Fantasyland will open on December 6th, 2012.

The sections due to open then include a ride called Journey of the Little Mermaid, two Beauty and the Beast themed restaurants (Be Our Guest and Gaston's Tavern), Bonjour! Village Gifts, and Enchanted Tales with Belle, a special meet and greet area at the Beast's castle.

Earlier this year, the Storybook Circus section of New Fantasyland opened, featuring an update to the popular Dumbo ride, a new train station, the Barnstormer roller coaster, and a splash zone for youngsters. A 7 Dwarves Mine Coaster is also in the works, with plans to open that in early 2014.

Reservations for the Be Our Guest restaurant, which will be quick service for lunch but a sit down restaurant for dinner, are expected to open shortly. The restaurant will feature a variety of french cuisine.

November 19th is the date that previews for these attractions will begin. Though it hasn't been clarified, previews generally mean that the rides and attractions will be operating, but not advertising that they're open. Occasionally previews at Disney World have been limited to annual passholders. No word yet if that will be the case this time.
