New exhibit: 'Sea of Cortez' at Arizona Sonora Desert Museum (Photos)

The new exhibit called "Sea of Cortez" opens at the Arizona Sonora Desert Museum on Saturday, March 16, 2013. This exhibit is located in the Ironwood Gallery. There will be an rpening reception from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, March 16, 2013. The temporary exhibit is expected to remain to display through June 2, 2013.

The "Sea of Cortez" exhibit will feature sketches, paintings, and photographs of the Sea of Cortez as well as Nacapule and the Estero Soldado. The exhibit celebrates the aquarium that opened at the museum earlier this year. The exhibit features artwork done by thirty artists who traveled to San Carlos, Sonora in 2011.

About the Arizona Sonora Desert Museum: The Desert Museum is open year round, although the hours vary. The hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. (no entry after 4:15 p.m.) October through February, 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. (no entry after 4:15 p.m.) March through April and September, and 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (no entry after 3:45 p.m.) Sundays through Fridays and 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. (no entry after 9:15 p.m.) Saturdays June through August. Admission is $14.50 for adults ($12 June-August and $7 Summer Saturdays) and $4.50 ages 6 to 12 ($3 in Summer). Ages 5 and under are always free.
