Walks and rides into Mission Trails Park will soon start at a new staging area next to a new ranger building with an information center built in Tierrasanta. City councilmembers, this week, funded the early construction design work.
The Tierrasanta entry area will have a shade structure, and covered picnic grounds, park visitors can use to get out of the outdoor sun. And, use to put on large gatherings and events.
Construction costs have not yet been funded. The city council plans on using park funds and CAlifornia state grant money. Funding will get an approval vote at a later meeting.
Workers will build staff rooms, a kitchen, and a conference room inside the 5,000 square foot ranger administration building four park rangers will staff. Visitors will find new public restrooms at the location.
An operational budget for the four park rangers needs to get set at the Parks and Recreation Department.
The additional staging area will take in walkers and hikers, and bicyclists. Horse riders will also use the staging area. Mission Trails Park has staging areas around the park that covers land out east into Santee.
