The Cincinnati Enquirer had reported on Friday that Tim Tebow was still waiting to find out if he would survive the latest round of cuts. But the NFL reported today that the Tim Tebow quarterback experiment in New England is over.
The NFL website has confirmed the release of Tebow. He attempted to dislodge Ryan Mallett as the backup to starter Tom Brady. Although Tebow threw touchdowns in the final preseason game, his performance wasn’t enough for a roster spot.
Tebow, the 2007 Heisman Trophy winner hasn’t experienced much success in the NFL. Since being drafted into the NFL, he has played for the Denver Broncos and New York Jets. Now that he’s been cut, he can either retire or try to sign on with another team. He may have to wait for an injury before another team signs him.
