New England Patriots fans have been salivating at the idea of Darrelle Revis possibly playing in Foxboro next season. If the team isn’t able to sign Aqib Talib, that possibility may become a reality as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are currently looking to trade Revis. If they can’t work out a trade by Wednesday (March 12), Revis will become a free agent. According to a report by CBS Sports on Mach 11, the Patriots along with the Philadelphia Eagles are two teams that could be interested.

If Tampa Bay does indeed release Revis as they are expected to do if no trade is made, Revis to New England would fit the style of both the Patriots and Revis. Bill Belichick is a coach who loves to turn his top corner loose on the opposing team’s top receiver. “Revis Island” would be quite welcome at Gillette Stadium.

Adding Revis would also present nightmares for Rex Ryan and the New York Jets, which would be an added bonus for the Patriots.

The Eagles are another team in need of some secondary help and is likely to be in hot pursuit of Revis as well as many teams in the NFL. Where Darrelle Revis ends up will depend on many things. One of those factors will be the kind of money he may be demanding.

If somehow he ends up in New England, it will be the Patriot’s biggest acquisition since they traded for the services of Randy Moss.
