Rob Ninkovich #50 and Chris Jones #94 of the New England Patriots react against the Miami Dolphins in the second half at Gillette Stadium on October 27, 2013 in Foxboro, Massachusetts.

New England Patriots defensive end Rob Ninkovich is excited about the team adding Darrelle Revis. According to a report by ESPN on April 8, the defensive captain called Revis “the best corner in the game.”

Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman may not be happy with Ninkovich’s statement, but the defensive end has seen Revis up close and personal and is glad to have him on his team.

“We’ve got the best corner in the league coming in. That’s always a good thing for a defensive end like myself, just give me a little bit more time [with tight coverage] and I’ll be happy to use that.”

Ninkovich echoed the excitement of his head coach Bill Belichick as well as other players on the defensive side with the surprise signing of Revis. The new Patriots cornerback will add to a complicated defense and make other players better.

“You can do whatever you want with him. You can put him on the best receiver, tight end, whoever, and say ‘Hey, go cover this guy and he can do it.’ Whenever you have a guy that talented, it’s always great as far as defensive schemes and stuff like that.”

Ninkovich hasn’t personally gotten a chance to speak with Revis, but is looking forward to it when players show up for the voluntary offseason program, which begins the week of April 21.

The Patriots defensive end also expressed his desire to win and is appreciative of the additions the Patriots have made thus far. As an older player, he will be even more excited if and when the team adds some depth at defensive in via another free agent signing or in the upcoming draft.
