I get emails all of the time from readers who say that they do not have time to go find inventory. I have made other suggestions like shopping online for deals, but there are a new wave of eBay sellers who are making some good money with out leaving their house. Selling domain names on eBay is not new, but the growth of sellers is exploding!
Since we are in the middle of a “Make money online” boom, people are searching for domain names for their business. First, if you are unfamiliar with the term domain name, I am referring to a web address e.g. www.ebay.com or www.TheEbayEntrepreneur.com. If you are wanting to start a blog, business, or any other website you need a domain name.
These are just a few that sold within an hour! One domain, Spaceman.com, sold for over $5,000 on eBay. So how do you buy a domain name and sell it on eBay.
First you need to buy a domain name. I prefer GoDaddy.com since they are really easy to work with when transferring a domain to someone else. You need to start thinking names that are highly desirable. To help you with this, you can use googles keyword tool. You will have to have a google account to view this (its free), but this is how you can tell what people are searching for.
On GoDaddy.com, you can search for available domains. Once you find one that is available that you like, buy it. Most of the time they should be under $11, so be careful of other sellers on GoDaddy.
Now you are ready to list it on eBay! Make sure that you are using keywords in your eBay title and description. This will help bring traffic to your listing, and get it sold faster. I usually put my domain name listings on for a buy it now, and list it for 10 days. There are a lot of different domain names for sale on eBay right now, and not all of them are winners. You may have some that are just a base hit, but you will hit a home run sooner than later! After your auction sells, you will have to transfer over the domain to the buyer. GoDaddy makes this very easy, and they have a tutorial HERE
Here is one last, but important, tip: When you are listing your auction, make sure you put that the domain will be transfered to another GoDaddy account. That means once it sells, you can just transfer it to another account on GoDaddy. If you didn’t put that, and someone wanted you to transfer it to another site, you would have to wait 6 months!
