To accompany the release of Disney’s new Winnie the Pooh animated movie, Disney Consumer Products is selling a variety of cute products aimed at babies and kids. From playthings to clothes to household products like food and toiletries, these items of themed merchandise will appeal to a new generation of fans of the popular characters from the Hundred-Acre Wood and can be found at many stores in the Chicago area.
Winnie the Pooh toys
Fisher-Price has designed a line of toys (which can be found in Chicago at Toys R Us stores), including:
- a Pop-Up Choo Choo with lights and sounds and three cars from which Pooh, Tigger, and Piglet pop out.
- A Pull ‘N Sort Eeyore consisting of a hollow pull toy that looks like Eeyore and has holes in its sides through which children can push different shapes (with a different Hundred Acre Wood character pictured on each shape).
- A Rumbly Tummy Pooh whose nose or tummy kids can push to make Pooh wish for hunny and sing a line of a song from the movie (accompanied by his growling tummy) about getting honey from his friends.
The LEGO Group is selling a new line of DUPLO Winnie the Pooh toys including a picnic theme (with bee pieces, bread pieces, and a honey pot), Winnie’s House (with pieces for building the tree in which Pooh lives and Pooh, Eeyore, and Piglet figures), and a Tigger's Expedition Set (with a bridge, Tigger, and Piglet). These toys can be found in Chicago at mass retailers like Target and Toys R Us, as well as at LEGO Stores.
Winnie the Pooh plush
Eco-conscious families will love the new organic Winnie the Pooh collection from miYim, made from certified organic cotton, colored with non-toxic and low-impact dyes, and available exclusively at giggle (2116 North Halsted in Chicago) and giggle online. Choose between Eco Plush Pooh, Tigger, Piglet, and Eeyore.
At mass retailers like Target and Walmart, families can shop the Just Play Winnie the Pooh plush toy line with versions of Pooh, Tigger, and Eeyore available for $14.99.
At brick-and-mortar Disney Stores and the online Disney Store, shoppers can collect an exclusive line of Pooh plush dolls sized 11-inches to 16-inches tall and including a wider range of characters like Rabbit, Kanga, and Roo. The online Disney Store is also stocking a limited edition plush collection set of five characters (only 300 sets in all) designed to look just like the real-life toys in the movie and retailing for $299 for each set.
Winnie the Pooh clothes
As part of the Disney Cuddly Bodysuit line at amazon, shoppers can find both single cuddlies and 3-packs decorated with Pooh styles. Features of these baby clothes include multiple sets of snaps so that a single bodysuit can stretch to fit a growing baby for a longer period of time and soft cotton fabric that should not shrink when washed.
The Disney Store, meanwhile, is stocking adorable bodysuit sets for infants that come with shirts and hats designed to basically dress a baby up to look exactly like Winnie the Pooh or Tigger.
Winnie the Pooh books
Both kids and grown-up fans can add several new books about Pooh to their household libraries:
- Disney Winnie the Pooh: A Hundred-Acre Wood Treasury is a charming and beautifully illustrated retelling of the storyline of the new movie.
- Disney Winnie the Pooh: The Essential Guide is a reference guide from Dorling Kindersley full of stills from the movie and watercolor art of all the characters from the Hundred-Acre Wood.
- Disney Winnie the Pooh Book: A Celebration of a Silly Old Bear is an updated version of an older tome that traces through art the development of the look of and stories about Pooh.
Winnie the Pooh household items
Other Pooh-branded household products available to fans of the characters who live in the Hundred-Acre Wood include:
