Yoga has been a practice of mind and body health for over 5,000 years, originating as a way for Hindu priests to bring the mind and body together as one to promote peace, relaxation, and health. The common poses were first recorded over 3,000 years ago and are the same we practice today.
Although it has been around over 5,000 years, yoga is now taking hold of the fitness communities, being offered in every gym on the main schedule; spots previously reserved for cardio classes. There is a realization in the fitness world that in order to be truly in shape you must balance the weight training, cardio training, and stretching/yoga training. Yoga studios have also been popping up at almost every intersection to provide soothing places for people to mentally unwind and learn to manage stress from their busy schedules.
One studio I want to recommend is New Day Yoga in Stanley Kansas for one main reason; they offer childcare. Mothers have it tough when trying to find a fitness routine they love and on top of that, one that offers childcare. The only option many of us have are gyms; which definitely serve their purpose, but we miss out on some of the more exciting activities like kick-boxing and yoga.
New Day offers a wide variety of classes ranging from beginner to advanced yoga and pilates, hot yoga, core pilates, dance, private instruction, and even a 4-week boot camp. Childcare is not offered for every class so check the schedule, but they also have a great opportunity to volunteer in the childcare room and receive a month of unlimited yoga. It's almost too good to be true.
*If anyone else has suggestions of yoga studios that offer childcare, feel free to leave their names in the comment area.
