The CW may be getting back into the prime time game show game. Fremantle Media, one of the biggest developers of TV shows in the game show and talent show genres is working on a new show that it is currently looking for participants. The show, which is a combination of a dating show and a game show, is called The Perfect Score.
The CW airs on the Fargo-Grand Forks-Moorhead market on a digital sub channel, 6.2, for WDAY.
It has a rather convoluted game play, so pay close attention. A contestant takes a variety of compatibility tests with 12 prospective dates. A cash value is determined for each potential date based on those scores. The contestant then selects their date. The contestant also wins the value of the date based on those compatibility scores. That’s the basic set up for the show.
It has only been a few months since The CW has attempted a prime time game show.
That may mean that there may be two prime time game-type shows on its schedule. In August of 2012, The CW, in a summer scheduled dominated by reality shows, debuted a new version of the old children’s favorite game, musical chairs, combined with extreme sports. Oh, Sit! did well enough in the ratings that it got a renewal and has begun the process of looking for new participants for a brand new season of adults engaging in the act of playing a children’s game.
There do not appear to be any sort of prime time trivia-based games going into production for the prime time audience. Nor does there seem to be anything happening on the immediate horizon for any new day time game shows for the daytime schedule for any of the broadcast channels.
The new show is being developed by Scott St. John. Some of St. John’s game show credits include the Howie Mandel vehicle Take It All and Deal or No Deal.
The Perfect Score is looking for participants. If you think that this is something that you might be interested in doing this you can e-mal the show at perfectscore@fremantlemedia.com.
It is not known at this time when it would be inserted into the prime time schedule, or even who may be hosting it. It also remains to be seen what the composition of the limited prime time schedule will be for The CW, and what the mix of game show, reality shows and scripted shows.
