New Dance Company To Hold Inaugural Performance

Palm Beach County will add a new face to their cultural arts community. O Dance explores dance and theater with classical ballet and contemporary dance. They will mark their debut on Feb. 6, 2010 at 8:00 p.m. at the Duncan Theatre in Palm Beach Community College in Lake Worth, Fla.

Founder and Director, Jerry Opdenaker, has worked as principal company member for Pennsylvania Ballet, Kansas City Ballet, and Ballet Florida. He was also the former Director for STEP Ahead (Ballet Florida’s Choreographic Workshop.) With STEP Ahead, he spearheaded this program into the National Endowment for the arts which was awarded the Access to Artistic Excellence twice. Opdenaker has been commissioned for works such as, “ Idyllic Realm” and “Bliss” for Ballet Florida and “From a Distant Wind” and “Bailame” for Ballet Gamonet. He has participated in the Ballet builders 2003, New York City Ballet’s 2005 Choreographic Institute and the National Choreographic Initiative 2007 in California.

O Dance is comprised of 15 dancers. Also to appear are former Maximum Dance Company members, Andrea Shelley and Spencer Gavin.
