New dad Simon Cowell reveals he already wants more kids

Simon Cowell has found his forte. In a March 5 interview with Extra, the 54-year-old former “X Factor USA” judge, who welcomed his first child with girlfriend Lauren Silverman last month, talked about becoming a father to baby Eric: “I was born to be a dad!” he said.

The new dad admitted he was nervous at first, but he’s got the daddy routine down, joking, “Lauren's actually been crying more than Eric, so I've had to put one of those pacifiers in her which she likes! Has to be fed every three hours, otherwise she gets a little bit grumpy, and Eric's absolutely fine!”

Cowell also revealed that the baby reminds him of him of his late father, who was also named Eric, and he even hinted that he’d like more kids: “I wouldn't rule out [more children],” he said. “I had a brother when I was younger, so I kind of think it’s cool to have two or three… two.”

The media mogul's new attitude is a far cry from his past remarks about having children. In a 2012 interview with AOL Music, he even said he thought he's missed the chance to have kids due to his age and demanding work schedule.

“I do really, really like kids, because I can talk to them and listen to them,” he said at the time. “The problem has always been how much time you need to devote to bringing up kids and I've always dedicated all my life to work, and at 52, I've probably missed the opportunity.”

Since “The X Factor USA” has now been canceled, it sounds like Simon will have more time for doting daddy duty.
