New crew at Pine View plans to run fun summer camps for kids

The four members of the new management team at Pine View Golf Course are huge believers in adding the many upsides of golf to all the wonders that kids ages seven to 15 experience while growing up.

That‘s why there’ll be a major emphasis placed on turning boys and girls onto the game during Pine View’s Summer Golf Camps at the 36-hole facility located at 1471 Blair.

“We know that it is important for young golfers to have fun while learning,” said Mike Copeland, Pine View’s general manager, who along with brothers Don and Glen Costello and Stan Brigham, now operate the property. “This is why we’ve created the camps to accomplish just that through skills and drills development designed specifically for them to enjoy.

“And because we have the shorter 18-hole Executive Course, the kids will get in games on a real layout each day during supervised play.”

Here’s what the kids are taught and get to do:

  • Short Game
  • Full Swing
  • Course management
  • Rules and Etiquette
  • Chalk Board sessions (includes golf definitions and a “design your own golf hole” feature)

Dates and fees (Prices include HST):

  • June 30 – July 4, $280*
  • July 7 – 11, $350
  • July 14 – 18, $350
  • July 21 – 25, $350
  • July 28 – Aug. 1, $350
  • Aug. 5 – 8, $280*
  • Aug. 11 – Aug. 15, $350
  • Aug. 18 – Aug. 22, $350
  • Aug. 25 – Aug. 29, $350

* These camps run for four days due to Canada Day and Aug. 4 holiday.

PGA of Canada members will provide all instruction at a 5-to-1 player-to-instructor ratio. Lunch and all equipment will be provided.
