Craft Akron, located at 1478 North Portage Path, hopes to become a new crafting hub for Akronites. The studio offers workshops and workspace for artists and crafters to meet, learn, and create. It has a retro vibe with comfortable seating and workstations. There are sewing machines, a serger, embellisher, a dye-ing sink, and cutting and work space which are available for individual or group use. They are offering various workshops including creating rag dolls, drop spindling (creating yarn without a wheel), jewelry making, and varying levels of sewing classes. The workshop fees include the supplies needed to complete a craft by the end of the workshop.
The craft center is also having a special event on the 5th Saturdays throughout the year. Craft Akron will offer use of the space from 10 am- 2 pm on these Saturdays in exchange for donations to the ACCESS shelter. The ACCESS Shelter offers housing and supportive services for women and children in need in the Akron community. Attendees can either donate certain items which are needed by the Shelter (listed on the Craft Akron website) or they can sponsor an ACCESS resident for the day.
Anyone interested in more information about the Craft Akron space can visit their website or call 330-865-1100 Tuesday through Saturday. Craft Akron is located at 1478 North Portage Path, Parkwood Plaza, in Akron, Ohio.
