There has been much discussion recently in HOA circles regarding the language of Florida’s HB 319. This bill, as written, would have included mandatory education and certification for people who serve on the board of directors of a homeowners association. The current law only mandates certification for condominium and timeshare board members. Unfortunately, the section concerning education for HOA boards was removed from the bill.
All hope is not lost, however, as educational opportunities abound for board members who are interested in learning more about the system, and the laws that govern it. This column, over the next few weeks, will focus its attention on some of those opportunities in South Florida.
