Ahead of the Detroit Auto Show, and to GM’s displeasure, both details and images of the 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 have been leaked. Caranddriver.com was able to find the horsepower and torque totals just with a simple Google search. Within the metadata, the figures of 620 horses and 650 lb-ft of torque were listed on a page that GM quickly removed. Other leaked information says that those numbers come from a supercharged V-8 utilizing updates from the Gen V small-block engine.
Jalopnik got their images through digital back channels from Fast Lane News website. The car is probably the best looking Corvette in years. Perhaps this is finally an honest attempt for a Domestic car company to produce a vehicle that engages the import competition, both German and Japanese, and rear wheel drive Italian offerings. Realistically, though, it will come down to build quality. Let’s not forget the previous generation’s rear bumper could be pushed in with just your fingers, or coupe models could be converted to a targa top with ease of your feet.
Full reveal of Z06 comes Monday where we are sure to have more images and details.
