New controversy boiling over video featuring Duck Dynasty's Phil Robertson

Just when you thought the dust had settled, a new controversy is boiling over a video that has surfaced featuring "Duck Dynasty" patriarch Phil Robertson. Several media outlets reported Sunday on the video, which can be viewed at RawStory.com. CBS's "This Morning" also aired a segment on the video on Monday. Some are even labeling Robertson a pedophile after comments he made four years about marrying girls as young as 15 or 16-years old.

Robertson was just reinstated by A&E on Friday, after the network had suspended Robertson indefinitely for comments he made in an interview with "GQ Magazine." After a huge public outcry in support of Robertson the network lifted the suspension.

"A&E has decided to resume filming 'Duck Dynasty' later this spring with the entire Robertson family," the network said.

Now the video, made four years ago at a Sportsman's Ministry conference, has renewed calls for Robertson's firing. Robertson's comments were obviously meant to be humorous, but crtics of the "Duck Dynasty" star are taking them very seriously.

“Make sure that she can cook a meal, you need to eat some meals that she cooks, check that out,” Robertson said in the video. “Make sure she carries her Bible. That’ll save you a lot of trouble down the road. And if she picks your ducks, now, that’s a woman.”

“They got to where they’re getting hard to find,” Robertson added. “Mainly because these boys are waiting until they get to be about 20 years old before they marry ‘em. Look, you wait until they get to be 20 years old, the only picking that’s going to take place is your pocket. You got to marry these girls when they are about 15 or 16, they’ll pick your ducks. You need to check with mom and dad about that of course.” ”

It's clear to any impartial viewer that Robertson was joking, but apparently that's not allowed if you're a conservative Christian. One liberal group, "Americans Against The Tea Party," went so far as to call Robertson a pedophile over the remarks. It's also clear that Robertson wasn't recommending that middle-aged men go out and marry teenage girls. His comments were directed at young men, many who were teenagers themselves.

Robertson's detractors are also pointing out that he married his wife, Kay, when he was 20-years-old and she was 16, overlooking the fact that it was 30 years ago at a time when that was not at all uncommon, and many couples marry young even today. Many of Robertson's critics scream bloody murder when young people are charged with crimes over consensual sexual encounters, but hey, what's wrong with a little hypocrisy if you're on the left?

A&E has not yet commented on the video.
