New Contract with Michael Vick and Eagles hurt the Oakland Raiders

Michael Vick’s new contract with the Philadelphia Eagles might have put the Oakland Raiders in a tight spot. The contract might have taken away some chances for the Raiders to get some more draft picks in April.

Bleacher Report stated on Monday that Vick’s deal with the Eagles might have hurt the Raiders. It affects Oakland in the sense that the Eagles are not going to be drafting a quarterback.

See, the Eagles are number four in the draft pick, right behind the Raiders. The Eagles have shown that they are most likely not going to pick a quarterback. Otherwise, why would they resign Vick?

So, the teams that follow, that need a QB, are not nervous about having their pick taken. The Raiders were ready to trade their number three spot to teams that are shopping for a QB, before the Vick contract with the Eagles.

Now, those teams don’t have to trade anything with the Raiders, because it is most likely that the Eagles are not going to pick a quarterback.

See, the Raiders lost a lot of picks the year they picked up Carson Palmer. Reggie McKenzie, General Manager, is trying to get those picks back by trading the number three spot for this year's draft pick.

Now, it’s going to be tough. The Raiders will have to really change their plans and make a superb pick when they are up, third in line.

Also, Vick’s contract with the Eagles takes out another veteran quarterback out of the market. See Vick might have been a good option for the Raiders. Vick could have been a good guide for Terrelle Pryor since they have the same playing style.

Also, Michael Vick is a lot cheaper than Carson Palmer. The Oakland Raiders might have saved some money if Vick was still out there for buying. But no!

The breaks are hard to come by for the Raiders, it seems.
