Even with "Grand Theft Auto V" not being released or even nailed down for a specific date, Rockstar Games has talked about what they would consider doing for the next iteration in their wildly successful series.
According to a report from GamePur yesterday, Rockstar Games boss Dan Houser said the company would be open to doing a science fiction type "GTA."
"We will do it the very second we have an idea.
"One of our strengths is the consistency of the game world. We’re not necessarily the best writers in the world, but we know how to write a video game," Houser said.
He went on to talk about how Rockstar will do something if they have something to say about a specific time period, much like they did with "Red Dead."
"When we decided to make a Western, it was because we knew we had something to say.
"We have no interest in going into science fiction for the sake of flying cars and laser guns. The best science fiction stories are those that speak about the human condition.
"So while this idea is very tempting and, by definition, anything’s possible in a videogame, we lack the essential thing for the moment: a good reason," Houser said.
Would you like to see a futuristic "Grand Theft Auto" installment or would that ruin the series?
