“League of Legends” is a very popular game among the college crowd and many people have been asking for a competitive college level Esports scene. While there isn't a less demanding LCS for those juggling a high GPA and a High Elo there is a new resource from Riot for college players. A Collegiate Program has recently been launched to help players in college meet fellow summoners.
Riot’s Collegiate Program allows players to start up a “League of Legends” club at their school. All you need to do is register your club with your school and Riot. Then you’ll be required to throw a community “League of Legends” event. Getting together a club can be a lot of work on top of everything else college throws on your plate, but Riot is willing to help.
The company will send you swag and help you get things started at your school. You’ll never have to play solo-que again with a cadre of fellow alumni in your friends list. And unlike other online multiplayer games you will get to make IRL friendships based around your favorite game. If you have the time and passion how could you say no to a deal like this?
Send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org to get started and soon you’ll have a “League of Legends” club and receiving some swag too. The Collegiate Program is just another way for Riot to make the Fields of Justice a friendlier place. It’s almost incentive enough to go back to school for some of us.
