Thankfully, Mother sun has decided to visit us after weeks and weeks of grime and gray, but don't let the pristine glass sky and aimless cumuli fool you--it's cold. Sure, that new winter coat you got for Christmas will do its job in combating the weather, but why not double the dose with an elixir of strength? I'm talking freshly roasted, award-winning coffee here, folks.
With classes suddenly back in session it may take more than a nudge to hit the stride of academia, but the Midwest coffee gurus at Kaldi's Coffee have our backs with the new Columbia Lo Mejor De Monserrate, winner of the 2009 Cupping Competition. In the words of the roasters themselves, it features "dazzling acidity reminiscent of mango, bergamot, and green apple." It's very light, but distinct and doesn't taste like flavor is being sacrificed for such a delicate coffee. Also featured is the 4th place winner of the competition, the Colombia Monserrate, chosen for its "spice, coca and dark fruit dominating the nose while flavors of peach, cream and molasses delight the palate." Both are only available for a limited time.
With Kaldi's "isolation-in-public" atmosphere--modest lighting, neutral musical selection and balanced seating--and their new brews, it's the perfect place to settle in for a few hours to get reacquainted with studying habits which will dominate the next several months of our lives. So, here's to a good semester and to great coffee, courtesy Kaldi's.
